Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Knox's Obituary
On July 28, 2020, Annie Knox of Dadeville, AL - loving mother and grandmother - passed away at the age of 93.
Annie Elizabeth (nee Jones) Knox was born on May 21, 1927 in Tallassee, AL to Oliver and Effie (Rhodes) Jones. In 1945, she married Jack Murray Knox and they raised two children, Murray and Carolyn. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Effie; husband, Jack; sister, Margaret Knowles; and brother, Bob Jones. She is survived by son, Murray (Phillis) Knox and daughter, Carolyn Knox Mitchell; sister-in-law, Pauline Jones; grandsons: Scottie (Mary Jewell) Knox and Jody (Becky) Knox; granddaughters: Leigh (John) Brunet, Amy (Dave) Orrico and Jackie (Tony) Lankford; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Annie was a devoted Christian and long-time member of Sardis United Methodist Church, where she spent many years singing in the church choir. She had such a sweet and thoughtful disposition, along with an adorable sense of humor. She was known for her affectionate hugs, hearty back slaps, precious smile, and infectious laughter. Visiting her house, you were greeted with a pound of homemade food and a pound of quilts, both to keep you warm - inside and out - Annie touched many lives in her 93 years and will be deeply missed by her family, friends and community.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11AM at Sardis United Methodist Church in Dadeville, AL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her beloved church, to be mailed to Sardis United Methodist Church, ℅ Treasurer, PO Box 162, Notasulga, AL 36866.
The service will be held in compliance with the mandated rules of social distancing and face mask from the Alabama Department of Public Health.
