April Dawn Goggins Berry was born on August 5, 1991 in Montgomery, Alabama to Jackie Ray and Caroline Moncus Goggins. Tragically, her life was cut short on Saturday, August 12, 2023 due to injuries from a car accident. Her spirit, however, will forever shine a light into the hearts of all who knew her. April was known for having a quirky personality that came with lots of jokes, laughter, and humor. She had a big heart and was willing to help anyone no matter what. April enjoyed the little things in life like drinking a hot cup of coffee in her favorite coffee mug, playing Sims, cuddling with her pets, listening to music, and decorating for holidays. Her favorite holiday to decorate for was Christmas, where she would get to display Christmas figurines that brought her so much joy. April's favorite flowers were sunflowers, Gerber daisies, and yellow roses with the red outline. Her personality, like the flowers she admired, lit up her surroundings with beauty.
April loved her children and devoted herself to raising them. She always gave them the kind of love, affection, and comfort that only a good mother could give. On October 26, 2020, she married her husband, Donovan, after dating each other for almost 3 years. He knew her as his soul mate and credits her for the ability she had in bringing him out of the darkness. She had a special place in her heart for all of her family and friends. They equally treasured her for her warmth, wit, and ability to make the most delicious food with many different spices.
April is survived by her husband, Donovan Berry; daughters, Chasey Halsey, Haylee Halsey; son, Marcus Guffey, Jr; stepson, Eestyn Berrry; parents, Jackie and Caroline Goggins; sister, Brandy (Jamie) Barrett; brothers-in-law, Justin (Alexis) Berry, Devon Fillman, Logan Fillman; grandparents, Mary Moncus, Kenneth (Glenda) Goggins; grandmother-in-law, Marie Stewart; aunt, Tammy (David) Daniel; uncles, Kenneth (Glenda) Goggins, Kevin Goggins, Kerry Goggins; mother-in-law, Dana Stewart; and special friend, Summer (Dustin) Morris.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leslie Goggins, Joseph Goggins; grandfather, Vernon Moncus; and uncle, Wayne Goggins.
Although she is gone way too soon, her family will always remember what a light in the darkness she was for so many people. That light will continue to light the way for them as they honor this amazing woman. In the words of her favorite TV redhead from I Love Lucy, "It's a heck of a start, being able to recognize what makes you happy."
