Austen Roy Pitchford's Obituary
Memorial service for Mr. Austen Roy Pitchford, 81, of Dadeville, will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Beulah Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Davis will officiate.
Mr. Pitchford passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 at his residence. He was born on June 5, 1933 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Roy Pitchford and Lois Cosby Pitchford. He worked as a cutter in the sewing rooms of several sewing factories, store manager at Story's Store in Opelika, and as a truck driver for Saxon Oil. Mr. Pitchford was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Alabama football fan. Mr. Pitchford love his family and spending time with them most of all.
He is survived by his son, Kerry Pitchford (Michele) of Dadeville; grandchildren, Brandon Pitchford (Ellen), Breanna Geer (Matt), and Bella Pitchford; great-grandchildren, Corey Geer and Collin Geer; sisters, Shelby Cantrell (Pete), Barbara Speake (Bennie), and Sue Shaw (Gary); brothers, Burt Pitchford (Jerry), Graham Pitchford (Phyllis), and Stanley Pitchford; sisters-in-law, Nita Pitchford and Margaret Langley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lurlene Nelson Pitchford; his parents; and brothers, James Pitchford, Donald Pitchford, Lamar Pitchford, and Gerald Pitchford.
