Mr. Billy Bob Ward's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Billy Bob Ward, 84, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 2:30 pm at the Union Methodist Church. Rev. David Waldrop and Rev. Dan Rhodes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Union Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Union Methodist Church. Mr. Ward will lie in state during the visitation. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force at the graveside.
Mr. Ward passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his residence. He was born on March 26, 1933 in Atlanta, Texas to Andre Ward and Dovie Ward. He was an active member of Union Methodist Church. Mr. Ward served his country proud for 20 years retiring from the Air Force. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his military career he worked for the State of Alabama Employment office in Alexander City and Tallassee. He then retired from there after 21.5 years of service. Mr. Ward has been a mentor to many and was a very strong, proud man. His pride and joy throughout his life has been his family and home. He served as finance chairman for Union Methodist Church for several years, helped his community get city water, served as a volunteer fireman, drove the ambulance and served his community in many other ways. He was also named as Volunteer of the Year by the State of Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Claudette Turner Ward of Dadeville; son, Randal H. Ward of Montgomery; daughter, Leslie Ward Morgan (David) of Dadeville; grandsons, David Ward Morgan (Lindsey), Matt Ward; granddaughter, Rachel Ward Hicks (Brandon); great-granddaughter, Britton Hicks; great-grandsons, Barrett Hicks, Reed Morgan and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Union Methodist Church, 4428 Highway 50, Dadeville, AL, 36853 or to the Union Volunteer Fire Department, 5171 Highway 50, Dadeville, AL, 36853.
