Bonita Keel Cook, affectionately known as Bonita, was a beacon of love and selflessness whose passion for life touched all who knew her. Born on March 21, 1964, in LaFayette, Alabama, Bonita brought joy and compassion to the world until her peaceful passing on November 8, 2025, in Montgomery, Alabama.
Bonita's early years in LaFayette were the foundation of a life marked by dedication and care. She honed her sense of discipline and commitment at Lyman Ward Military Academy, traits that would define her personal and professional life. While at Lyman Ward, she performed in the drill team, show choir and participated in the drama production, which was called the Sound of Music. In addition, she was a spirited cheerleader. Bonita's work as a Clerk in the Revenue Commissioners office was more than a job; it was a reflection of her desire to serve her community and be a pillar of support for those around her.
Family was the cornerstone of Bonita's world. She is survived by her beloved son, Dusty (Alli) Holley of Alexander City, and her cherished daughter, Ginny Holley of Dadeville. Bonita's love blossomed into the next generation through her grandchildren, Daxton Holley, Layla Peavey, Kyla Peavey, Ridge Price, and Ryleigh Askew. Her siblings, Debbie Kelly and Jerry (Peggy) Keel, along with a host of other family members, will continue to feel her absence deeply. Bonita was preceded in death by her father, William Gordon Keel, her mother, Mary Jane Keel, and her brother-in-law, Carl Kelly.
Bonita's life was a testament to her loving, selfless, and passionate nature. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she invested wholeheartedly in their lives, celebrating every milestone and supporting every endeavor. Bonita's presence at extracurricular activities was a given, her encouragement and pride radiating from the stands.
Known for her impeccable style, Bonita was a true diva, always dressed to impress, yet her elegance was matched by her generous spirit. She found joy in giving, often placing the needs and happiness of others before her own. Her loving and caring ways were her signature, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of friends and family.
Bonita's creativity shone through her crafty endeavors. Crocheting and making blankets were not just hobbies but acts of love, with every stitch a testament to her warmth. Her melodious voice was a symbol of her zest for life, whether she was singing her favorite tunes or engaging in heartfelt conversations.
Her service dog, Faith, was more than a companion; she was a cherished friend who stood by Bonita through life's challenges and triumphs. Their bond was a beautiful illustration of Bonita's capacity for love and connection.
