Jean was one of those rare individuals who are a joy and a blessing to know. When I came to Lyman Ward as Librarian in 1985, she patiently taught me what I needed to know to run the Library. She wrote the book on discipline and knew which books the cadets would enjoy. She even helped get me and my future husband together, which was an incredible achievement in and of itself.
To all her family, it must be a comfort to know that she is again with Tom, in a place where there is no more pain, weeping, suffering, or mourning. She fought the good fight, finished the race and is now just waiting for the rest of us to do the same.

Jean and I were next door neighbors at Lyman Ward for 25 years. Every morning we waited for the cadets at the top of the stairs, lounging in our doorways. And at the end of every day we tossed them out, another day of teaching done. In between we gossiped, snarked, laughed and beat our heads against the walls. All the things that teachers do hold themselves together.
Jean was a wise voice to a young teacher. She taught me much about our craft and about life. She was skeptical, funny, shrewd, and joyous all at once. May she rest in peace.
