Mr. Charles Alton Marsh's Obituary
Mr. Charles Alton Marsh, 91, of Camp Hill passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at West Georgia Hospice. He was born on April 2, 1928 in Chipley, Georgia to Needham James Marsh and Nellie Ophelia Swint Marsh. He was a member and former Deacon of Big Springs Baptist Church where he was the oldest member. In his later years, he attended Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Camp Hill. Mr. Marsh was a product of the depression years, was very frugal, and had a strong work ethic. He passed those values along to his children and family. He worked for 40 years at Georgia-Alabama Supply Company from which he retired but was always a farmer at heart. He loved gardening and feeding his family from his produce. Each year his vacation was spent deep sea fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Patrice Riley (Larry) of Pine Mountain, GA; sons, Charles Michael Marsh of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Mike Cook (Pam) of Jacksons Gap, and David Cook (Cathy) of Dadeville; sister, Rebecca Crutchfield of Pine Mountain, GA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three special nieces and one special nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 30 years, Marjorie Reese Marsh; second wife of 34 years, Mildred Cook Marsh; son, Kelley Reese Marsh; sister, Helen Hudson; and brothers, Robert Marsh, Edwin Marsh, and James Marsh.
The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to Sandy Creek Baptist Church 663 Sandy Creek Road Camp Hill, AL 36850.
A private family service remembering his life will be held.
Langley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
