Chimeria Lee McGhee's Obituary
Funeral service for Mrs. Chimeria Lee McGhee, 96, of Dadeville, will be Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Union United Methodist Church. Rev. Dana Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 2:00 pm until service time at Union United Methodist Church.
Mrs. McGhee passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at her residence. She was born on April 26, 1918 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to George Ray and Ruby Hartley Ray. She was an active member of Union United Methodist Church and was the eldest member until her passing. She was a wonderful cook and made memorable biscuits and chocolate cakes from scratch. Mrs. McGhee enjoyed flower gardening and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Lavern Nelson of Dadeville and Jerlene Hall (Danny), of Tallassee; son, Charles R. McGhee (Mary Allen), of Tallassee; 8 Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren; 8 Great –Great Grandchildren; and sisters, Bernice Winslett of Dadeville and Martha Monroe of Tallassee; sisters-in-law, Lorene Roberts and Agnes Casaday.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ralph McGhee; her parents; sisters, Eunice Clayton, Louise Carmichael, Odessa Smith, Mildred Ray, and Hazel Ray; son-in-law, Eugene Nelson; and grandchildren, Jon Luk Haddock and Braden Nelson.
The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Union Cemetery 70 S. Cold Creek Road Dadeville, AL 36853.
