Mrs. Cleone Gay Merrill Moore's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Cleone Gay Merrill Moore, 100, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Pastor Chad Harrison will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dadeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Cleone Gay Merrill Moore, affectionately known as Cleone to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 100 in Alexander City, Alabama. Born on October 8, 1925, in Pueblo, Colorado, Cleone was a beacon of light and love throughout her century on this earth.
Cleone's life was one rich with love and dedication to her family. She is survived by a loving family that includes her daughter, Marjorie (Larry) Shipley; son, Henry E. (Kathy) Moore; daughter, Sue (Joe) Ausman; and son, John (Joyce) Moore. Her legacy extends through nineteen cherished grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward. Her family also includes her devoted daughter-in-law, Penny Moore, and her caring son-in-law, Joe Davis. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Elmer H. Merrill and Leota M. Merrill, her beloved husband, Chester Levi Moore, her son, Glen A. Moore, her daughter, Lois A. Davis, and her siblings, Joe Merrill, Gene Merrill, and Lois Merrill Hart.
Throughout her life, Cleone embraced the role of a housewife with grace and passion. She created a warm and inviting home where all felt welcomed. Her hands were rarely still, as she poured her artistic soul into drawing and painting, creating beauty that reflected the world as she saw it. Cleone's love for the natural world was evident in the care she took of her yard and the joy she found in her flowers. She had an affinity for birds and could often be found sitting on her screen porch, quietly observing the wonders of nature.
Cleone's spirit was indomitable, her love boundless, and her faith unshakeable. These qualities were the cornerstones of her life and the legacy she leaves behind. Her spirited nature was a source of strength and inspiration to her family and friends, and her loving heart was a comfort to all who were blessed to be a part of her life. Cleone's faith guided her through life's challenges and triumphs, and it is this faith-filled spirit that will be remembered by all who knew her.
