Ms. Moran passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on December 29, 1960, in Alexander City, Alabama, to Horace and Peggy Moran, she lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and a deep love for others.
Darcy was a loving, selfless, and kind woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. She had a special gift for helping and connecting with children, and that gift guided much of her life’s work. She spent over 30 years teaching kindergarten at the Tallapoosa County school system and Auburn Early Education Center, where she touched the lives of countless young students with her patience, warmth, and encouragement. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, as she helped shape not only early learners but also the families and colleagues who came to know and admire her.
After retiring from teaching, Darcy continued her service to others by working as a Coach Facilitator for the State of Alabama. In that role, she remained committed to supporting and uplifting those around her, bringing the same dedication and compassion that had always defined her. She approached every responsibility with grace and sincerity, and she was respected for her steady spirit and her genuine care for people.
Darcy was a woman of great faith. She attended Church of the Highlands in Auburn and was greatly involved in the small group Bible studies there.
One of Darcy's favorite hobbies was tailgating at Auburn Football games. She found great joy in the comradery with her fellow Auburn family.
Darcy was a selfless person who loved helping others in any way she could. She found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life, especially in spending time with her beloved dog, Lulu. She was also a skilled decorator who took pride in creating beautiful and welcoming spaces. In addition, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and found peace in caring for them. These interests reflected her thoughtful nature and her appreciation for beauty, comfort, and home.
Above all, Darcy cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She had a special bond with many of her family members, especially Kate and Whit. She valued those relationships deeply and made everyone around her feel seen, loved, and appreciated. Her kind and loving spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was the kind of person whose presence made life brighter, and her memory will remain a source of comfort to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Darcy will be remembered with great love and gratitude by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of compassion, generosity, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, former students, and all who were blessed by her friendship. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
