Donald, a dedicated family man, and the heartwarming embodiment of friendliness, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023, at the age of 63. Born on October 22, 1960, in Alexander City, Alabama to Eugene Phillips and Mary Ellen White Phillips. Donald spent his lifetime sowing love and kindness in the lives of those around him. His final moments were spent in Opelika, Alabama, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family.
Donald was passionate about his family, friends, and work. He was a proud alumnus of Dadeville High School's graduating class of 1979. He dedicated over three decades of service to the community as a postal worker, retiring from the Dadeville Post Office and was known as the "Mailman of StillWaters".
The simplest pleasures brought great joy to Donald. He had a passion for cutting grass, business ventures, taking care of his rental properties, and spending precious time with his granddaughters, family, and friends, creating memories that would outlast his own journey on earth.
Donald's legacy of love is celebrated by his son, Warren Phillips; daughter, Kasey Phillips Selvanayagam (Sujindren); and son, Ethan Phillips. His delight was multiplied by his granddaughters, Kaleigh Phillips, Saige Phillips, and Shiloh Selvanayagam. His sister, Brenda Claybrook (Gary), and his nephews, Philip Simmons (Allyson), and Brandon Simmons (Brittney) also hold his memory dear. Donald also leaves behind many other family members and friends.
Donald was greeted in eternal rest by his parents; his sister, Diane Phillips; and his nephew, Will Claybrook.
His memory will forever be etched in the lives of those he touched, and his gentle soul will be sorely missed.
