Donnie Foran passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at his home in Waverly with his two daughters by his side. He was born on October 25, 1953 in Marianna, Florida to the late Donna Jean Shores. Donnie was a loving son and father and a kind hearted friend to many people. He adored his daughters and loved spending time with them, passing on his wisdom, and learning from them as well. He graduated with honors from Auburn University in Industrial Design in 1986, going on to design and build reproduction furniture for the Alabama Capital Building, displays for NASA in Huntsville, and fine custom furniture that he worked on in his shop on “The Farm”. Mr. Foran was a renaissance man who loved to read, watch western movies, and listen to old country music. He was an avid woodsman and explorer of nature. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads, collecting crystals, learning about history, and visiting historical sites. Donnie could often be found on his front porch sharing his philosophies, life’s knowledge, and homemade brandy with friends and family. “Pirate” Donnie will be deeply missed by his loving daughters, friends, and the rest of the Waverly Militia.
He is survived by his daughters Amanda Kate Foran, Belle Blake Foran, his former wife, Anna Belle Foran, his nephew Shane Pitts, his sisters, Sherry Sosebee and Renee Kerr; nieces Dionna Sosebee, Lonna McLaughlin; and his nephew Jacob McLaughlin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Jean Shores.
All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
