A Celebration of Life for Mr. Douglas Baker, 89, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00am at the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Douglas Theron Baker passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at his home. Born on November 1, 1935 in Tallapoosa County, he was the son of Mr. William F. Baker and Mrs. Claudie Vines Baker. Douglas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On January 4, 1958, he married the love of his life, Rachel Baker, and together they created a life full of memories and love until her passing in 2019.
Douglas was a humble and hardworking man that was the very definition of a loving husband, great father, and fun-loving grandfather. "A father's love is forever printed on his child's heart." This quote accurately describes the lasting imprint that he had on raising his children. Their memories are filled with nothing but admiration and affection towards a man that raised them with so much love and heart. Family was the most important thing to Douglas. Nothing brought more joy than spending time with them-especially his grandchildren who affectionately knew him as Paw Paw. In his spare time, Douglas loved fishing and Alabama football. There's no doubt that he was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off of his back to help you. He has lived his life with honor, gentleness, and humility. "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." -Helen Keller
He is survived by his daughters, Ginny (Ronnie) White, Diane (Roger) Hill, Kim (Farryl) Berry; sons, Michael (Angela Jones) Baker, Brian (Theresa) Baker; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Lewis Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Baker; daughter, Margret Ann Baker; parents, William & Claudie Baker; and siblings, Allen Baker, Ed Baker, John Baker, and Lucille Baker.
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."
Langley Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Douglas Theron Baker.
