Douglas Ray Johnston's Obituary
Mr. Douglas Ray Johnston, 74, of Tallassee, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his residence. He was born on June 3, 1940 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Wyatt Johnston and Doris Landers Johnston. He was a member of Riverside Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Johnston worked for Opelika Manufacturing for 40 years then Tallassee Mills for 2 years. He loved fishing and hunting and was an avid Atlanta Braves and Alabama fan.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane Johnston of Tallassee; daughters, Deborah Hyde (Michael) of Opelika and Rebecca Johnston of Tallassee; sisters-in-law, Joy (Charles) Jones of Prattville, Charlene DeNure of Manchester, GA, and Emma Jean Thweatt (Reggie Brown) of Dadeville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
