Dr. Edvin Johannes Larson's Obituary
A memorial service for Dr. Edvin Johannes Larson of Dadeville will be held Monday, December 29, 2014, at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.
Dr. Larson passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at East Alabama Medical Center. He was born on November 18, 1946 in Aberdeen, Washington to Manuel Johannes Larson and Sigrid Emelia Peterson Larson. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Bradshaw Larson of Dadeville; daughter, Courtney Joan Price of Auburn; sons, Manne Bradshaw Larson (Celeste) of Birmingham and Zachary Edward Larson of Dadeville; grandchildren, Samuel Bradshaw Larson, Luke Edvin Larson, Lillian Charlotte Larson, Levi Caviness Larson, Elsie Kathryn Larson and Aili Amelia Price; sisters, Lillian L. Vessey of Austin, Texas and Joanne L. Olsenberg (Ken) of Spokane, Washington; brother-in-law, Tom Norkool of Shelton, Washington and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elsie L. Norkool.
Dr. Larson was a U.S. Army veteran who volunteered to serve in Viet Nam and was a Captain in the 101st Airborne. He received two Bronze Stars for valor and an Army Commendation Medal. He attended Auburn University on a Tennis Scholarship and graduated with Highest Honors with degrees in Chemistry and English. He then graduated from the University of Alabama Medical School in Birmingham.
Dr. Larson was a beloved Family Practice and Emergency room physician in Alexander City for many years. He later was a founding partner in Auburn Urgent Care and continued to practice in Family Medicine until his death. His life was a service to others and he was loved by all who knew him.
