Mr. Edward Lougene "Butterbean" Davis' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Edward Lougene “Butterbean” Davis, 74, of Jacksons Gap, Alabama, will be Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Freddie Senn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Mr. Davis passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. He was born on July 26, 1948 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to James Eli Davis and Gloria Faye Pike Davis. Mr. Davis was a USMC Vietnam Veteran and retired truck driver. He loved his family dearly; especially spoiling his grandchildren and was lovingly known to them as “Paw Paw”. Mr. Davis was also known as “Butterbean” or “Lug Nut”. He had a passion for working on classic cars and attending car shows. Mr. Davis also enjoyed fishing, going to the Great Smoky Mountains, and treasure hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christine Weldon Davis; daughter, Anna Davis-Buford (Jacob); son, Eddie Davis (Melinda); granddaughters, Jasmine Davis, Megan Morgan (Billy Penton), and Maci-Jane Buford; grandsons, Jarred Davis, Adam Blair, Cody Davis, Jaxton Blair, River Davis, and Maxwell Buford; great-granddaughters, Olivia Broome, Cheyenne Haggerty, Makenzie Glassburn, and Malayah Phillips; brother, Roger Davis (Audrey); sister, Mary Hudson (Larry); and best friend, Earl Watkins (Christine).
He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Davis; grandson, Sean Sims; parents; and brother, James O'Neil Davis.
