Funeral Services for Elgin Lawrence Harris of Jackson's Gap, AL will be at Jackson's Gap Baptist Church, Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 3 PM. Burial will be in the Jackson's Gap Cemetery. Rev. Charles Horton will officiate. Visitation from 1:30pm until service time at Jackson's Gap Baptist Church. Mr. Harris was born on June 23, 1921, to the late Eddie U. and Clara Jones Harris and passed away on October 18, 2012, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his son Donald Ray Harris, brothers Lewis and Leavis Harris and sister Nell Riggins. Mr. Harris was a member of Jackson's Gap Baptist Church and chairman of Jackson's Gap Water Authority. He was a past mayor of Jackson's Gap. He was also a Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife Doris Harris of Jackson's Gap, AL; daughter Betty Faye Word of Pensacola, FL; daughter Annette Harris of Jackson's Gap, AL; son Marion (Brenda) Harris of Dothan, AL; sister Cludie Cannon of Sylacauga, AL; sister Christine Patten of Birmingham, AL; brother Linwood Harris of Sylacauga, AL; brother Edward Harris of Valdosta, GA; brother Dewayne Harris of Sherman, TX; and nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jackson's Gap Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1, Jackson's Gap, AL. Langley Funeral Home of Camp Hill is handling arrangements. www.langleyfuneralhome.com
