Mrs. Elizabeth Gayle Hayes' Obituary
Memorial Service for Mrs. Elizabeth Gayle Hayes, 82, of Dadeville, will be Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Ben Arellano will officiate.
Mrs. Hayes passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at her residence. She was born on September 9, 1935 in Dothan, Alabama to Lewis Hiram Brannon and Augusta Lee Brannon. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Dadeville. Mrs. Hayes was an amazing, adventurous woman, wife, and mother who will be remembered for her big heart and lovely sense of humor. As a teenager she learned to drive an18-wheeler hauling dynamite and received many titles driving cars in the demolition derby. She worked for NASA as a transcriptionist during the Apollo missions and enjoyed a career as an executive secretary with IBM for more than 30 years. During her years in Dadeville she raised hybrid wolves with her husband, Bob.
Mrs. Hayes was a devoted 27-year member of the Kiwanis Club in Dadeville, DHS Key Club and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. With these clubs she has served as secretary, mentor, and sponsor. She loved reading mystery and romance novels, meeting her fellow club members at Bob’s Fine Foods and Homeplate Café, and was a “Professional Grandmother” because of her love of all children.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kimball Peters; son-in-law William of Dadeville; son, Brannon Crawford Craig of Atlanta, GA; nieces, Laura Painter, Karen Riches, Pamela Campbell, Becky Scramlin; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bailey Hayes; parents and sister, Bebe Carolyn Brannon.
