She and Don made their home in Punta Gorda, Florida for 50 years. After Hurricane Charley swept through their home town, making a mess of their home, they moved to Dadeville and retired to enjoy one another. She enjoyed listening to Earnest Tubb sing and was privileged to have once had a front row seat at one of his concerts. She loved to dance and spent many happy hours line dancing. She loved her family dearly and was proud to make a home for them. She spent her working years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital and South Port Square Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, Florida. There she was awarded several times for her excellent care. Marie loved to travel and took many trips to Ohio and Indiana. One of her favorite stops was the Maid- Rite Burger joint in Ohio. She also enjoyed the State Fairs in those states. She and Don enjoyed camping and traveling all over North America and Mexico. She was the mother of Deborah Dunn (Dennis), of Camp Hill and Barbara Lowe (Sim), of Port Charlotte, FL; the proud Grandma of Kim Kirkpatrick (Jeff), Sandy Wilbanks (Terry), Shelly Bowins (Billy), Dennis Dunn, II (Mickie), and Shannon Arthur (Floyd); and the Great Grandma to 11 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Duane Oakerson of Winchester, IN., sister-in-law, Virginia Keller of Greenville, OH, several nieces and nephews, and lots of friends and adopted children who will miss her greatly. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Delma Oakerson, Jr. and sister, Joretta Oakerson Litton.
