Mr. Paul Farrell Tidwell's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Paul Farrell Tidwell, 79, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Minister Chris Tidwell and Minister James Cullins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dadeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Mr. Tidwell passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Dadeville Healthcare Center. He was born on August 31, 1937 in Clay County to Quiton Tidwell and Clema Meigs Tidwell. Mr. Tidwell was a founding member of Dadeville Church of Christ. He served on the Dadeville City Council from 1972 to 1978 and then served as Mayor of Dadeville from 1984 to 1996. He was very instrumental in bringing the first volunteer ambulance service to Dadeville and served as a volunteer for many years. He was a successful businessman having owned and operated General Repair Construction Co. and Tidwell Furniture and Floor Company. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his children, Angela Young (Rex) of Jackson's Gap, Mike Tidwell (Sharon) of Dadeville, and Darrell Tidwell (Brenda) of Dadeville; grandchildren, Tierra Sandeen (Jeff), Jason Tidwell, Meredith Young, Jacob Tidwell, and Landon Tidwell; great-grandchildren, Cameron Tidwell, Porter Sandeen, and Paxtyn Sandeen; sisters, Faye McCollough of Alexander City and Jean Wilson of Alexander City; brother, Billy Tidwell of Equality; and special Friend, June McClendon of Dadeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Lou Tidwell; brothers, James Tidwell, Harold Tidwell, and Gordon Tidwell; and sister, Mildred Gay.
