Mr. Gaines Bell Pinkston passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on December 1, 1933 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, he was the son of Mr. Joseph Elijah Pinkston and Mrs. Claudie Frances Baker Pinkston. Gaines was a devoted husband to his wife of 47 years, Brenda Powell Pinkston, loving father, and the perfect "Granddaddy." He was a man of faith that was very active within the church and was always willing to help whenever asked. His servant's heart extended to carrying equipment to the nursing home and VA for singings, working at the food bank, and taking care of those he loved. Gaines was a compassionate, quiet man who never complained. He was hardworking and always made sure that others around him were taken care of. In his spare time, he enjoyed being out in nature and found peace through bird watching. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Gaines is survived by his wife, Brenda Pinkston; daughter, Nancy Pinkston Harris; sons, Timothy Gaines (Angela Wang) Pinkston, Jeffrey Dale Pinkston; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Glenda) Pinkston, Donnie Pinkston; sister, Wanda (Chester) Nabors; sister-in-law, Becky (Mike Shipman) Bateman; several nieces and nephews; caregiver and faithful friend, Roger Adcock; and numerous other special church friends & family.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Paul Buck; parents, Joseph & Claudie Pinkston; brothers, Woodrow Pinkston, Lowell Pinkston; sisters, Nellie Sue Pinkston Keesey, Sara Jo Pinkston, Marie Pinkston Mann, Winnie Mae Pinkston Fowler.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Ivy Creek Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care of Mr. Gaines.
