Mr. George Alvin Barker 1934-2014 Funeral service for Mr. George Alvin Barker, 80, of Camp Hill, will be Monday, June 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Bro. Rob Lyda will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Langley Funeral Home. Mr. Barker passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Bethany House. He was born on April 5, 1934 in Lee County, Alabama to Herman Barker and Ruth Wheelis Barker. He was a cattle farmer and was an excellent mechanic. He retired from the maintenance department of Uniroyal. Mr. Barker visited his neighbors regularly and never met a stranger. He loved children especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Jeanette Williams Barker of Camp Hill; daughter, Helen Diane Rogers (Thad), of Valley; sister, Lucille Dillard of Camp Hill; brother, John Barker (Lee), of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Amy Jeanette Rogers and Michael Thad Rogers (Leigh); great-grandchildren, Libby Ann Rogers and Logan George Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
