Graveside Service for Mr. George Ronald Stone, 74, of Mars Hill, NC, formerly of Dadeville, AL will be Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11:00 am at Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Langley Funeral Home.
Mr. Stone, known as Ron to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Asheville, NC. Born on September 19, 1951, in Rome, GA to George William Stone and Joyce Winkle Stone, Ron's warmth and gentleness were evident from an early age. His life was a testament to the values of kindness, humor, and dedication, which he embodied until his last days.
Ron's professional journey as a Certified Public Accountant was marked by his exceptional work ethic and integrity. After years of diligent service to others, he realized his dream of owning his own business, where he continued to offer his expertise with a personal touch that made him not just an advisor but a trusted friend to his clients. His involvement in various associations within his field further showcased his commitment to his profession and his constant pursuit of excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ron's life was rich with interests that reflected his multifaceted personality. His sense of humor was a beacon of light that could brighten even the gloomiest of days. Friends and colleagues often sought his company for the laughter and joy that seemed to follow him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Paula Stone of Mars Hill, NC; sisters-in-law, Diane (Robert) Agurkis of Mars Hill, NC, Jessica (Jim) McCann of Franklin, TN, and Alice (Jeff) Herring of Rome, GA; aunt, Carol Winkle of Rome, GA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Joseph Henry Gittings; nephews, James Robert Agurkis and Jackson Davis Shaw.
