Mrs. Gladys Katherine Brewer Wood passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her home. She was born on October 29, 1940 in San Diego, California to John James Brewer and Doris Jeanette Vess Brewer. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. December of 1959, Gladys married her best friend, Robert Wood, and began on life's journey together. Robert was a traveling man who was always looking for the next adventure. No matter where the road led them, she remained by his side and followed him to each new place. During her life, Gladys worked as a nurse's aid. In her free time, she would enjoy needlepoint, knitting, and sewing. She would enjoy sitting outside on the front porch with her daughter's dogs. Animals brought her so much joy, especially her 17 year old yellow tabby cat, Caribou. Family was the most important part to Gladys. She loved her children and grandchildren who affectionately knew her as "grandma." Her simple and easy going personality would calm the stormy seas in others. Gladys was a patient source of light in the lives of those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Christine Greene, Rebecca Lynn Spencer; sons, Thomas Eugene (Rebecca) Wood, Daniel Wayne (Lori Ann) Wood, Benjamin James (Martha) Wood; grandchildren, Leah (Josh) Fanidit, John Rogers, Ethan Wood, Joseph Wood, Sarah Wood, Bernadette (Alex) Nazarneus, Catherine Wood, Hannah Wood, Devlin McCormack; great-grandchildren, Reagan Fanidit, Anthony Rogers, Benjamin Dean Nazarneus, Bernadette Grace Nazarneus; and sister, Bunny Gimble, Norma Kay (Scott) Kirk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Crawford Wood; and parents, John and Doris Brewer.
