Mr. H. Devon Shuman's Obituary
Memorial Service for Mr. H. Devon Shuman, 96, of Dadeville, Alabama will be Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Red Ridge United Methodist Church. Rev. Dorothy Scott will officiate.
Mr. Shuman passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his residence. He was born on January 16, 1927 in Bushnell, Florida to Foy Alvin and Keturah Downs Shuman. Mr. Shuman was a World War II Navy Veteran serving on the USS Truxtun as a Gunner’s Mate. He was the oldest living member of Red Ridge United Methodist Church. Mr. Shuman worked in the Auto Parts industry his entire career. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, the outdoors, digging, working in the yard, farming, and raising produce.
He is survived by his son, Devon Shuman, Jr. (Sandra); stepdaughters, Dalene Mathis, Jerrie Mathis, Amanda Jenkins (Kevin), and Krista Johnson (Paul); stepson, Rory Hall; grandchildren, Jennifer Leech, Julia Shuman, Lindsay Shuman, Brittany Shuman, Macie Jenkins, Brandi Arrington (Randall), and Jason Kimmons; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Claire Chaney, Ethan N. Mitrovic, and Isabella Winslett; and sisters, Elise Harvell, Betty Sue Holley, and Ruth Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Shuman; daughter, Cynthia Diane Shuman; parents; sisters, Della Lee Shuman Kimbel and Louise Simmons; and brothers, Billy Shuman, Foy Alvin Shuman, Jr., Gibson Shuman, and Raleigh Shuman.
