Mr. Harlan Davis' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Harlan Davis, 78, of Jackson's Gap, Alabama, will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Old Union Baptist Church. Bro. Terry Carter will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Old Union Baptist.
Mr. Davis passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 at his residence. He was born on October 10, 1940 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Rev. Henry O'dell Davis and Lonnie Patterson Davis. He was an active member and Deacon of Old Union Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener, beekeeper, and fisherman. Mr. Davis also was an excellent baker known for his cakes and cobblers. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Christian.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, LaVerne Davis of Jackson's Gap; daughters, Jenny Davis McClellan and Nancy Davis Vines (Stephen) all of Jackson's Gap; grandchildren, Caitlyn McClellan, Andrew Vines, and Nicholas Vines; great-grandchildren, Vireya Vines and Althea Houk; sisters, Ruby Glenn, Betty Litsey, Maureen Colley (John); brother, Bobby Davis (Kay); sister-in-law, Bobbie Nell Davis of Jackson's Gap; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Calvin Odell Davis.
