Born on April 3, 1964, in Alexander City, she was the daughter of Mr. Ralph Barnes Lockett, Sr. and Mrs. Sara LaFaye Gray Garrett. Jackie loved her parents and held a special bond with her father until his passing.
Jackie was the epitome of a welcoming spirit, always making people feel at home in her presence. She was a friend to the friendless, never meeting a stranger, her ability to make anyone feel included was a rare quality that made her and unforgettable force in the lives of those she met.
Dubbed "The Queen of Tallapoosa County," Jackie was known and loved by many, her generosity and selflessness serving as her crown. She was a true 'born and raised' southern woman with profound pride for her hometown. Jackie was a huge supporter of Dadeville athletics and never missed the chance to cheer them on, assist with fundraising, or offer help in any way that she could. Her school spirit also stretched to her Auburn tigers where she could be found cheering the loudest on game day.
Faith was a large part of her life, and she was deeply involved in her church by attending any and every event including bible study, Sunday school, and revivals. Her commitment to her faith was a testament to her character, as she lived every day with the intention of embodying the love and grace that she believed in so wholeheartedly.
Family was the most important thing to Jackie. On September 5, 1998, she married her best friend, George Bryan Cox, and together they created a life full of laughs, memories, and adventure. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren who lovingly knew her as "Nana." After the passing of her mother, Jackie strived to keep family and traditions alive and thriving which she accomplished with ease. Her captivating smile, caring nature, and expressive humor brought warmth and light to any occasion.
In her spare time, Jackie could be found shopping for more jewelry or shoes to add to her impressive collection, getting her hair and nails done, or stepping up to the mic on karaoke night. If Bryan was with her, you might even hear a duet or two, although she never feared a solo performance. Jackie's love for Red Hots, Life Saver gummies, key lime pie, and cheesecake were small delights that she never turned down. When she was able, she never missed the chance to travel to the beach where she enjoyed feeling the warmth of the sun and tanning the day away.
