Dr. James Melvin Moore's Obituary
Funeral Service for Dr. James Melvin Moore, 73, of Waverly, Alabama, will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Hardin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Langley Funeral Home.
Dr. Moore passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Bethany House. He was born on January 13, 1949, in Lee County, Alabama to Wendell Moore and Jessie Strong Wise. He was an active member of Camp Hill Baptist Church. Melvin was a loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his family. After 25 years of service for Uniroyal he retired and embarked upon a new career. He enrolled in Auburn University where he received an animal/dairy science degree and doctorate in veterinary medicine. He earned the title of being the oldest graduate from the Auburn University Veterinary program.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shelia Copous Moore of Waverly; sons, James Melvin Moore II (Becky), Jarred Heath Moore; grandchildren, Connor Heath Moore, Clay Griffith, Hayden Helms, Haley Bauer; great-grandson, Greyson Bauer; brothers, Joe Moore (Brenda), Benny L. Wise (Debbie), David Wise (Debbie); sister, Betty Cantrell and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Frecia Wise, Evelyn Kane; brother, Steve Moore and step-father, Benny Wise.
