I am very sad to hear this news. I've moved away from 'home' and wasn't aware. I always loved my 'Uncle' Kirby. He was one of the smartest men that I ever met. I've credited him with my love of politics and he always had the best stories. He loved my dad, Felix Cleghorn, like he was his own brother. Uncle Kirby was like a lot of us, complicated but principled. He stood up for what he believed and I always respected him. Rest in piece, 'Uncle' Kirby and I hope that you and my dad are having a big time...

June and I spent over four years at Blue Creek R.V. Park with Kirby and we have so many fond memories of him. I enjoyed spending time with him talking about fishing and baseball. He was a true Atlanta Braves Fan. He enjoyed sitting on the pier watching us fish and catch the big carp. He loved his family and was so proud of them. Our condolences go out to his family and our prayers are with them.

Wayne and I rented a lot from Kirby at his RV park at Blue Creek. We got to know him and as soon as he saw us come in he would get on the golf cart and come over. He and Wayne shared a love of history and guns. Wayne would drive Kirby to his friend's house that had a gun shop, then they would go eat lunch. We enjoyed listening to him talk politics and the time he served in Montgomery. One of the first questions he asked me was did I cook cornbread. He loved his cornbread. We will miss him and our lives are richer for having known Kirby. Condolences to the family.
