Mr. Jon Scott Gavin's Obituary
A Memorial Service for Mr. Scott Gavin will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Drake will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:00pm.
Jon Scott Gavin of Dadeville, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2025 at the age of 64. Scott was born on May 4, 1960 to Roy Rush and Anna Warley Gavin. He is preceded in death by his mother, Anna Warley Gibler, and his step-brother Richard Sanner, III. Scott is survived by his son, Jon Conrad Gavin and his wife Sophavody, both serving in the US Navy, his father, Rush Gavin (Nancy), and siblings, Milo Gavin (Kimberly), Lisa Gavin Ledbetter (Wendell), Pamela Sanner Edwards, nieces, nephews, and extended families.
Scott was a 1978 graduate of Selma High School in Selma, Alabama. He attended Jacksonville State University and was a 1983 graduate of the University of Alabama with a BS in Geology. Scott worked initially offshore in the oil industry from Louisiana. He then moved to Amoco Research and Development as an analyst in Tulsa, OK. He started and operated his own software business for over 30 years in Tulsa, OK and later Dadeville, AL. He loved music and played the French horn. He was a sports enthusiast. He played high school and college football, participated in track and field, ran marathons (including the Boston and NYC Marathons), was an avid golfer and loved his Alabama Crimson Tide!
