Mr. Judson Douglas Edel Sr.'s Obituary
On Saturday, October 15, 2022 Judson Douglas Edel, Sr. loving husband of 59 years and father of three children passed away at the age of 85 years.
Jud was born in Passaic, NJ on June 19, 1937 to Howard and Florence Edel. He attended Bucknell University, Joined the US Army and was an instructor in Radar Repair. He completed his BS degree at Monmouth University in Electronics Engineering. Later he completed an MBA at Florida State University. Jud was employed by RCA at Cape Canaveral in Radar Repair, Signature Analysis and Down Range coordinator for Minute Man III Launches. After leaving RCA he worked for Bell South as an Outside Plant Engineer until retirement in 1991.
On June 22, 1963 Jud married Marian Saponaro and they had three children; son, Daniel, married to Shardae Clemens, daughter, Jennifer, married to Richard Sartori, and, son (Judson) Douglas, married to Shauna Fauchon. Jud is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren; Anthony Sartori, Nicholette and husband Kyle Ferrell, Angelina Edel, Alli Clemens, Teagan Edel, and Grayson Edel, niece Dawn Scalfaro and nephew Richard Edel, grandnephew Connor Edel and grandniece Sophia Edel.
He was an active member of Red Ridge UMC and served as Trustee Chairman, member of the Building Committee and member of the Landscape Committee. Jud served on the first independent Board of Directors for Stillwaters HOA.
Jud enjoyed gardening, being a Certified Master Gardener, boating, bird watching and DIY projects. He had a sharp wit and sense of humor, quick to laugh and had a great love of desserts and for all God’s creatures.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, visitation at 10:00am and services at 11:00am; Red Ridge UMC, 8091 CR 34, Dadeville, AL 36853. Donations may be sent to Tunnels to Towers (T2T.org)
