Mrs. Katherine Diana Fors King, known for her free-spirit and hippie vibe, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Dadeville, Alabama. Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on October 30, 1944, she was the daughter of Finnish immigrants, Onni and Martha Fors. On April Fool's Day, April 1, 1982, she married her husband, humorously known as Joe King, and together they set out as two kindred spirits on life's journey which often took them to the Florida Keys for sun, sand, and the fresh ocean breeze.
Katherine was an infectious ray of light to her family and friends with a personality that could both make you laugh and bring you peace. With an eye for beauty, she would capture precious moments through the lens as a wedding and portrait photographer. She found comfort in her very own "darkroom" where these memories would come to life. If she wasn't taking pictures, Katherine could be found hunting for antique treasures and retro gems at thrift stores, fishing by the water, watching NASCAR, or sitting around the campfire.
This flower child had a love that could wrap you instantly with warmth, kindness, and acceptance. She was known to "adopt" any child that came her way, even grownups, and was ready to help if they ever needed her. Also, as a huge animal lover, you can bet that she'd be the first to pet any dog or animal that came her way. Katherine didn't just live; she marched to the beat of her own drum and lived that hippie dream of peace, love, and sunshine. There is comfort knowing that flower petals lined her path as she grooved into the sunset with a Creedence Clearwater record playing in the background.
Katherine is survived her daughter and best friend, Spring E. Boren; and the countless children and grandchildren that she adopted into her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Joseph H. King.
Langley Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Katherine Diana King.
