Major Larry W. Corley, US Army Retired's Obituary
Major Larry W. Corley, US Army Retired, passed away March 6, 2023.
He was born June 19, 1947 in Jena, Louisiana to Ruth Alexander and Kirby Corley. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Jena High School in LaSalle Parish, Louisiana. He joined the Army in 1966, served in the Vietnam War and continued to serve his country until his retirement in 1987. Larry later taught JROTC for 14 years in the Birmingham City Schools. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Resources Management at Troy University and later received a Master’s Degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, David.
He is survived by his wife Maureen “Mo” Byrnes Corley; his son, Lt Col. Michael W. Corley, US Army Retired; his daughter, Elizabeth Brady (Charles); his grandchildren Logan Corley, Carson Brady, Kyle Corley, Emilia Brady and Eleanor Brady. He is also survived by his brothers, Carl (Joann) Corley, James (Nancie) Corley and Tillman (Sharon) Corley and his sister Mary (Lawrence) Higgins; brother-in-law John Byrnes (Wilma), sisters-in-law Kathy Baatz (Charlie), Ellen Arbeeny (Edward) as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at New Water Farms, 460 Civitan Road, Dadeville, AL 36853.
