Mr. Leon Pierce's Obituary
Graveside Service with military honors for Mr. Leon Pierce, 78, of Baldwin County, will be Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 1:15 pm at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 Highway 225 Spanish Fort, Alabama. Bro. Roger Adcock will officiate with a special reading by Mrs. Valerie Davis.
Mr. Pierce passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at his residence. He was born on September 26, 1939, in Leakesville, Mississippi, to Lee Ander and Lillian Pierce. Mr. Pierce received his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering from Perkinston State in Mississippi then served in the Army National Guard when he was called to active duty. He retired from Kimberly-Clark as an electrical instrument maintenance leader. He enjoyed watching Alabama football, playing golf, and spending time with his friends, family and beloved dog, Buck. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He attended Sage Avenue Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, for many years. He previously served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Pierce of Dadeville, formerly of Baldwin County; daughter, Amber (Jeff) Davis; grandchildren, Paul Davis, Emma Claire Davis; nephews, Robbie Francis, Rusty Francis, Robert Persons, Ricky Persons, Wade Gannaway, Eric Thompson, Ian Kennedy, Eli Kennedy and nieces, Sherry Irby and Ashley Gannaway.
Honorary Pallbearers are Harold Foster, Larry Jensen, Greg Kennedy, Daryl Lee, Jim Matthews, James Rhodes, Joe Scott and Arthur Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Vesta Lee and Verna Persons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, Tennessee, 38148-0142.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Lake Martin Hospice (Ivy Creek Hospice) for their wonderful care given to Mr. Pierce.
