Mrs. Lucile Black's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Lucile Black, 95, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Dadeville. Rev. Jim Pate and Rev. Ben Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dadeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at First Baptist Church Dadeville.
Mrs. Black passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Dadeville Healthcare Center. She was born on July 13, 1922 in Mt. Olive, Mississippi to Archie Calhoun and Virginia S. Calhoun. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Dadeville. Mrs. Black was a very family oriented lady that was always active in her children’s lives. She taught Sunday school, was active in WMU and was a charter member of the Delphic club. Every summer her grandchildren would spend a week with her and she would cook them lemon and blueberry pies. Her home was always cared for and yards were full of flowers that she cared for.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol B. Myers (John) of Northport, Miriam B. Hankins (Danny) of Gadsden; son, Thomas S. Black (Sandra) of Waverly; grandchildren, Kim Sparks (Dan), Mark Hankins (Jamie), Todd Mathews (Kristen), Starr Orr (Mark), Skye Meigs (Jason) and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy G. Black; parents; grandchild, Carla Mathews; two sisters and one brother.
