Mrs. Margaret Whitley Matthews' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Margaret Whitley Matthews, 88, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 am (CT) at the First Baptist Church Dadeville. Dr. Ben Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, Georgia at 3:30 pm (ET). The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 9:30 am (CT) to 10:30 am (CT) at First Baptist Church Dadeville.
Mrs. Matthews passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 24, 1935 in Newnan, Georgia to Eddie Lee Conner and Hattie Mae Fordham Conner. Mrs. Matthews loved being a mother and grandmother. She liked being an LPN for many years and taking care of others. She was a member of First Baptist Church Dadeville. Mrs. Matthews loved to read the Holy Bible, teaching scripture, and the book of Revelation. She also enjoyed traveling, square dancing in her younger years, collecting recipes, and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Busko (Tom) of Dadeville, Alabama, Angela Webb of Jackson's Gap, Alabama, and Bonnie Bailey (David) of Covington, Georgia; son, Nicky Whitley (Sharon) of Sharpsburg, Georgia; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Nick Whitley; husband, Wyman Alvah Matthews; daughter, Pamela Lynn Whitley; and parents.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to, First Baptist Church Dadeville Building Fund, 178 South Tallassee Street, Dadeville, Alabama 36853.
