Mark Allen Treadwell, III, better known as MA, departed this earthly life and transitioned into Heaven on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Born in Opelika on August 15, 1958, he was the son of the late Mr. Mark Allen Treadwell, Jr. and the late Mrs. Joyce Marie Smith Treadwell. MA graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1980 with a Biochemistry degree. He was President and member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity where he made some of his best friends with whom he stayed in contact with for the remainder of his life. MA later took additional graduate studies in Chemical Engineering at Auburn University. He spent ten years working for Alabama Power in nuclear generation at the Farley Nuclear Plant in their Dothan and Birmingham locations. In 1990, he graduated from Birmingham School of Law where he was elected President of his class. After practicing law in Birmingham, MA returned to Dadeville and joined the law firm of Oliver and Sims, which later became Oliver and Treadwell. He also served as Dadeville's Municipal Judge for over twenty years.
On March 25, 1995, MA married the love of his life, Karen Daniels of Birmingham, and shared many years of love, laughter, and adventure. They treasured raising their children, Scout and Adeline. He was a lifetime member of Dadeville First United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. MA loved his community and his life-long friends. He was respected by his peers and had a reputation of being fair and honest along with being known as a sharp dressed man. No outfit was complete without his signature monogram somewhere on them. MA was a man of many talents, but none compared to his ability in the kitchen as he was also known for being a chef extraordinaire. In his free time, he could be found playing golf at Willow Point Country Club with the "Good Ole Boys," or "GOB's" as they were known, which included some of his dearest friends. MA treated everyone with kindness and respect. He lived a fulfilled life faithful to his Savior, his family, and his community.
MA is survived by his wife, Karen Treadwell; daughters, Adeline Treadwell, Dr. Scout Treadwell; brother, David (Sherry) Treadwell; sister, Jennifer Marie Treadwell; and nephews, Bishop Treadwell and David Allen Treadwell.
While flowers are accepted, the family humbly asks that donations be made to Dadeville First United Methodist Church-140 W Lafayette St, Dadeville, AL 36853 in honor of MA.
