Mrs. Mary June Pitts Rape's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Mary June Pitts Rape, 78, of Opelika, Alabama, will be Friday, March 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Bro. Miles Crouch will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rape passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Oak Park Nursing Home. She was born on June 7, 1940 in Dadeville, Alabama to Johnne Henry Pitts and Lizzie Mae Yarbrough Pitts. Mrs. Rape retired from Leshner Mill in Opelika after 33 years of service. She loved her family and her friends dearly and especially loved to have family gatherings and family reunions. She always made all of her grandchildren feel like they were the best. Mrs. Rape was known for her chocolate pies, cornbread dressing, and homemade soup. She also enjoyed reading, putting together puzzles, word puzzle books, sewing, playing cards, and canning. She was also known as “June Bug”.
She is survived by her daughters, JoAnna Mezick (Jimmy) and Shirlene Stewart (David); sons, Robert Lewis Rape and Jerry Pitts Rape (Kim); five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Larkin Rape; parents; sister, Frankie "Sue" Collier; and brothers, Billy Ray Pitts, Jerry Dale Pitts, and Hank Hardwick.
