Mrs. Mavis Echols Bunch Strozier's Obituary
Funeral service for Mrs. Mavis Echols Bunch Strozier, 91, of Gulf Breeze and formerly of Camp Hill, will be Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Cummings will officiate. Burial will follow in the Camp Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Strozier passed away in the peaceful arms of her family on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Joyce Goldenberg Inpatient Palliative Care Center in Pensacola. She was born on June 18, 1922 in Tignall, Georgia to Edward Mitchell Echols and Harriett Whitner Echols.
Mrs. Strozier graduated from Nursing School in 1943, married Louis Bunch and lived in Hapeville, Georgia. In 1965, she married Paul Strozier and in 1972 moved to Camp Hill, AL. In 2005 she moved to Pensacola, FL.
Mrs. Strozier began her nursing career at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta and later worked for a number of doctors primarily in pediatrics in East Point and College Park, GA. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She also enjoyed crocheting, china painting and vegetable and flower gardening. She was an avid animal lover and loved her family very much. She and her late husband, Paul Strozier, owned and operated Strozier Service Station in Camp Hill for many years. She is survived by her sons, Mitchell Bunch of Gulf Breeze, FL and Michael Bunch (Cheryl) of Marietta, GA; daughters, Beverly Keyes (William) of Dacula, GA and Paula Walker of Alexander City; grandchildren, Lauri Erickson (Dan), Leonard Bunch (Leanne), Larry Bunch (Sherry), Lisa Gardner (Carey), Michelle Bunch, Alisha Keyes, Troy Keyes (Cathy), Deidra Baird and Ashton Baird; twelve great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Echols of Drewyville, VA; and sister, Agnes Cabe of Otto, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Paul Strozier; brother, Wesley Echols and daughter-in-law, Marianne Bunch.
The family would like to thank the people of Covenant Hospice of Pensacola and the staff of the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Inpatient Residence for their kindness and loving care during their time of need.
