Mr. Henderson passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital Midtown. He was born on November 9, 1957, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Bob Cockerham and Shirley Carter Henderson. He was an avid member of the Faith Riders. Mike was the real deal, giving all he had to all who needed him. Known to many as “Crawdad”, this gentle giant cared deeply for his family and friends and was never too busy to take time out of his day to call, stop by for a visit, or text daily words of encouragement to those he loved and cared about. He made friends wherever he went, his laugh was infectious, and he always made everyone smile with his crazy, loud “Jungle Call”. His amazing Cajun cooking and crawfish boils will be remembered for many generations to come. Mike was a devoted member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and loved Jesus and his church family deeply. He also owned a successful landscaping business and took pride in working hard to make his clients’ properties look beautiful. He loved the outdoors, fishing, visiting his favorite Mexican restaurant for great food and conversation.
He is survived by his son, Shawn Gaspard of Batchelor, LA; grandchildren, Jonathan Adams (Savannah Gaspard), Rebecca Gaspard, Skylar Gaspard all of Moreauville, LA, and Anna Gaspard of Batchelor, LA; great-grandchildren, Zeke Adams, Zane Adams, Zeth Adams, Zaiden Adams, and Chloe Cooper; brothers, Danny McDaniel (Mona) of Batchelor, LA, and Bradley Henderson of Columbia, LA; sister, Dodi Shaddix (Randy) of Jackson's Gap and aunt, Lila Strickland of Panama City, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Wilford Henderson and brother, Jodi Arnold.
