Mr. Billy Ray Bullard's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Billy Ray Bullard, 76, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Pastor Chad Harrison will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Billy peacefully transitioned into Heaven with his loving family by his side on April 15, 2024. He was born on February 21, 1948, in Verbena, Alabama to Norman and Minnie Lee Bullard. Billy was a man of exceptional character and warmth.
Billy's life was characterized by his love for his family, his service to his country, and his commitment to his work. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 56 years, Peggy Bullard; his children, Cindy Bullard, Amy (Jody) Allen, Emily (Steven) Smith, and Talmadge (Shelton) Bullard; as well as his beloved grandchildren, Alli Bullard, Zander McClendon, Max McClendon, Katie Holley, Lauren Allen. Bonus grandchildren Seth McClendon, Hannah Smith, Ginny Holley, and Dusty Holley. A pillar of love and stability, Billy's legacy also includes a host of nieces and nephews who looked up to him. He now reunites with his parents, Minnie Lee Bullard and Norman Ray Bullard, who preceded him in death.
A graduate of Benjamin Russell High School and Auburn University, Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before dedicating 48 years of his career to the Alabama Department of Transportation as a civil engineer. A retired member of the Alabama Army National Guard, Billy exemplified discipline, perseverance, and patriotism throughout his professional life.
Billy will be forever remembered for his loving, gentle, and thoughtful nature. He took immense joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories in the simplest of moments. An avid cook, his "Cheese Straws, Fruit Rock Cookies, and the Cheesy Eggs" were renowned among friends and family, a testament to his culinary passion. His personal style was unmistakable, often noted for his cowboy boots and Polo Cologne.
A true sports enthusiast, Billy was a fan of Auburn Tigers Football and all Dadeville Tigers sports. He cherished the excitement of his grandchildren's sporting events. His leisure time was often spent golfing, fishing, enjoying his tobacco pipe, or taking his girls shopping-a testament to his multifaceted interests and his ever-present dedication to his family.
Billy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to resonate in the principles he embodied and the love he shared. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate his life and the indelible impressions he's left on our hearts.
