Mr. John Edward Barker's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. John Edward Barker, 93, of Camp Hill, Alabama, will be Friday, January 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Molly Cross will officiate. Burial will follow at the Roxana Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
In loving remembrance, we announce the peaceful passing of John "Ed" Barker on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his home surrounded by his three children. He was born on August 11, 1930 in Roxana, Alabama to Herman Augusta Barker and Ruth Pauline Wheelis Barker. He was an active member of Roxana Methodist Church. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a hard-working, self-reliant man, known for his work ethic and willingness to help anyone in need. Ed retired after a successful 33 year career at Merichem Chemical Corp. He was a loyal friend. As a man of faith, Ed taught his children the value of family, hard work, and resourcefulness.
He is survived by his daughters, Dana Roxane Hacker (Scott) of League City, TX, and Jan Simmons (James) of Houston, TX; son, John Edward Barker, Jr. (Terry) of Beech Island, SC; grandchildren, Melodie Lynn Neuman (Chris), James Orbon Simmons, Jr., Timothy Ryan Simmons (Laura), Andrew Nathanael Simmons, Stephen Thomas Simmons, Leah Ann Simmons, Luke Quentin Simmons, John Daniel Simmons (Jamie), Maxwell Reed Hacker (Melanie), and Callen "Callie" Jaymes Hacker; and seven great grandchildren.
He is reunited in Heaven with his parents; wife of 70 years, Minnie Lee Barker; granddaughter, Christie Renee Simmons; and eight siblings.
