Barbara passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Lake Martin Community Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on Wednesday, January 9, 1935 in Columbus, Georgia to Henry Washburn and Ruby Howard Washburn. Barbara was a faithful and active member of Elder Congregational Christian Church where she served in many positions.
She was a great seamstress and dedicated matriarch who always made sure that her family was well fed and well loved. Her specialties included co-hosting lots of fish fries and other dinners with dessert being an absolute must! Barbara had a sweet tooth when it came to desserts with chocolate and little Debbie cakes being her go to choice. In her spare time, she could never get enough of watching her favorite movie, "Gone With the Wind," or classic Westerns, such as "Gunsmoke." Barbara was a sweet woman who loved her animals, her family, and her friends, but most of all, she loved the Lord. Her gentle spirit will never be forgotten in the hearts of all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Forrest) Jennings; son, Jeb (Lori) Jennings; daughter-in-law, Jackie Jennings; grandchildren, Ambra (Joseph) DeStafino, Connor (Kimberly) Jennings; great-grandchildren, Michael DeStafino, Jessica DeStafino; brother, Sonny Washburn; sister, Linda Weaver; nieces, RoseMarie Stancill, Wendy Wagner; nephews, Joel Washburn, Brad Weaver; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curwood Jennings; son, Ricky Jennings; and her parents, Henry and Ruby Washburn.
