Born on December 4, 1933, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to John Will Miller and Claudie Bell Morgan Miller.
Emma Jean's life was a testament to her loving character and commitment to her family. Cherished wife to her devoted husband of 37 years, C. Harold Hill, she was a foundation of strength for her children, Randall William Lester (Nelda), Bonnie Kunickis (Bob), Debbie Holt (Jeff), and Brenda Strous (Stephen). She was a proud stepmother to Rick Hill (Elaina), Wayne Hill, and Tony Hill (Katie). Her legacy is carried on by her caring sister, Elise Watt, and her loving brother, Calvin Miller (Margaret), along with the joyous laughter of thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and numerous adoring nieces and nephews.
Emma Jean walked through life's seasons with the grace of one who understood the profound truth in Helen Keller's words, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." She graduated from Camp Hill High School and later retired from the Tallapoosa County Probate Office after 15 years of service. Her commitment to the community was evident through her years of service at the Tallapoosa County Christian Crisis Center, where her noble character set an example for all.
Her passions painted the canvas of her life with vibrant colors. Her faith in and love for God's word were a passion in her life. As a choir member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church her voice raised in song, reflected her inner radiance. A lover of jigsaw puzzles and word searches, she found joy in the pieces and phrases of life. Emma Jean had a gift for cooking that could translate love onto a plate, and her love for flowers and doll collecting revealed her appreciation for beauty and innocence.
Selfless, loving, and thoughtful are words that merely encapsulate the essence of Emma Jean. Her gentle spirit and nurturing soul imprinted memories of warmth and kindness onto the hearts of those she touched.
Today, we celebrate Emma Jean Hill, a remarkable woman whose life was a quilt of service, love, and tender memories. Her spirit remains a guiding light, continuing to inspire through the love she so generously gave. Emma Jean's story does not end with her passing but lives on in the hearts she warmed and the lives she enriched.
