Mrs. Waters passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. She was born on October 24, 1940, in Greenville, Alabama to Robert E. Williams and Mary Elizabeth Harrison Williams.
Jean loved so many things: her family; her Lord and Savior; cooking; decorating her home; planting rose gardens; growing ferns; crocheting hats, blankets and wash cloths; hummingbirds; watching wrestling and Auburn football, "War Eagle"; going to the beach; singing; and having a love for "sweets". In earlier years, she was Ms. Preacher or Ms. Jean and served alongside her husband in his ministry, but most of all she loved working with the children's ministry. In her later years, she was a member of Center Baptist Church in Lafayette, Alabama.
She is survived by her daughter, Dennie Waters Hale (Scott) of Montgomery, Alabama; son, Robert Waters (Paulette) of Commerce, Georgia; daughter, Lydia Waters (David Woodall) of Camp Hill, Alabama; grandchildren, Lee Hale (Chelsea), Raeanne Waters, Grace Waters Varner (Austin), Garrett Waters, and Mary Elizabeth Waters; great-grandchildren, Kingsley Eleanor Hale and Parker William Stanley; and loved adopted daughter, Christa Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bro. Autry D. Waters; parents; sister, Melba Herrington; brother, John Robert Williams; and nephews, Jeremy Wade Williams, Ashton Hardy, Junior Waters, and Thomas J. McDonald.
She lived a full and blessed life and will be missed by those that knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank the staff at Baptist Medical Center South, both ICU and 5th Floor nursing staff but most importantly the Hospice Team for their love, care, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
