Martha Ann Moore Morris, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, left this world enveloped in love on May 7, 2024, at the age of 87. Born to the late Fannie Bozeman Moore and Dempsey Clark Moore, Martha grew up in Dozier, AL surrounded by the warmth of a large and loving family, a foundation that would shape her own approach to life and love.
Martha's educational journey was marked by a passion for music that blossomed during her time at Dozier High School and flourished at Troy State University, where she majored in music and was a proud member of the Troy Collegiate Singers. Her love for music remained a constant thread throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who had the pleasure of hearing her play piano, violin or sing.
Martha's professional life was as successful as it was fulfilling. She owned and operated Martha's Fabric Shop in Dadeville, Alabama for five years, showcasing her creative flair and entrepreneurial spirit. However, it was her 30-year tenure as a branch manager at the Bank of Dadeville in Jackson's Gap that left a lasting impact on her colleagues and community. Martha's commitment to excellence and her genuine care for her clients made her a respected figure in the banking industry.
Her devotion to her faith was evident in her active involvement with the Jackson's Gap Baptist Church, where she served as music director, director of the children's choir, pianist, and teacher of the adult women's Sunday school class. Martha's musical talents were a blessing to her congregation, and her leadership in these roles was a testament to her generous spirit and love for her church family.
Martha's interests and talents were as varied as they were rich. She was an accomplished seamstress, a masterful gardener, and a wonderful cook, known for making the best biscuits hands down. Her home was often filled with the sounds of her piano and her infectious laughter, as she cherished being with her family and hosting gatherings that were the highlight of many occasions.
Martha is survived by her loving husband, George Richard "Buck" Morris of Jacksons Gap, AL, and her adoring children, Pamela Ann Morris (Lee) Patterson, Cathy Michelle Morris (Tony) Pitts, Richard Hal (Mary) Morris, Vance Hampton (Tami) Morris, and Jessica Faith Morris Smith. Her legacy also lives on through her twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She leaves behind her dear sister, Amber Moore (Alan) Yoe, sister-in-law, Tina Moore and a vast family of fifty-two nieces and nephews, along with her brother-in-law, Jerry Morris, and sister-in-law, Macy June Waldron. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, two sisters-in-law, and four brothers-in-law.
Martha Ann Moore Morris was a beacon of creativity, love, and generosity. Her presence enriched the lives of those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt. Yet, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us through the memories she leaves behind. Martha's life was a beautiful symphony of love, laughter, and service, and her melody will resonate in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Music Ministry at Jackson's Gap Baptist Church, P.O Box 1 , Jackson's Gap, AL, 36861.
