Mrs. Jinks passed away on January 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 11, 1929, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Robert Argus Akin and Berta Dillard Akin. Byrl's life was one of devotion and joy spread across an inspiring 94 years.
Byrl was defined by her loving spirit, a trait that endeared her to many. Her gentle touch and patient guidance shaped a family that revered her. She leaves behind a legacy in her daughters, Julia McCollum, Linda Sharpe (David), and Sandra Black (Tommy), who will continue to honor her memory. The love Byrl cultivated flourished through her grandchildren: Mitch McCollum (Ginger), Mike McCollum, Mark McCollum (Erin), Chad Bailey (Tiffany), Candice Maddox, and Cassie Harrelson (Cody). Her thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren represent a tapestry of lives graced by her influence, a testament to her boundless love. She also leaves behind two special caregivers, Krista Yarbrough and Jackie Burns.
Byrl's family tree, though sturdy and expansive, remembers its roots and cherishes the memory of those who have passed before her: her beloved husband, Samuel Jinks; her grounding parents, Robert Argus Akin and Berta Akin; her six brothers; and the light of a grandson, David Lynn Sharpe.
Bryl had a long-standing career at Russell Corporation and found solace and community within the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church by being the oldest member, embodying the very virtues that are the foundation of such fellowship. Her interests painted the picture of a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures, from playing Rook to quilting to sewing-all of which were exceeded by her passion for spending time with her family.
Roberta Byrl Jinks, whose name resonates with love, kindness, and gentleness, leaves behind not just a family but a legacy of warmth that will be cherished and upheld by generations to come.
