Mrs. Peggy Jean Clanton's Obituary
Funeral service for Mrs. Peggy Jean Clanton, 79, of LaFayette and formerly of Camp Hill, will be Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Camp Hill Cemetery. Rev. Bill Parker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Langley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Clanton passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at LaFayette Extended Care. She was born on July 2, 1934, Bacon Level Community, Randolph County, Alabama to Clyde Reid Mapp and Letha Mae Ussery Mapp. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and a former member of Camp Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Peggy enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She also enjoyed going camping.
She is survived by her son, Pete Clanton (Twylia) of Camp Hill; daughters, Deborah Helton and Lori Clanton, both of LaFayette; grandchildren, Rachel Baxter, Courtney Murchison (Chad), Jonathan Ford, Jarred Ford, and Michelle Mims (Pat); great-grandchildren, Olivia Murchison, Luke Murchison, Nicholas Ford, Madisyn Ford, Ryan Ford, Sonny Ford, Jordan Miller, and Justin O'Neal; sisters, Annie McGinty of Dadeville and Patsy Stephens (Terrell) of Louisville, KY; and nephews, Cecil McGinty, Marc Stephen, and Matt Stephens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Cecil Clanton, Jr.; her parents; in-laws, Johnnie and Katie Clanton; and nephew, Maynard McGinty.
