Mr. Raymond "Ranny" Yancey Jr.'s Obituary
Memorial Service for Mr. Raymond "Ranny" Yancey Jr., 82, of Dadeville, will be Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Dadeville. Dr. Ben Hayes will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at the church.
Mr. Yancey passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at his home. He was born on January 29, 1944 at Drake Infirmary in Auburn, Alabama to Raymond Langley Yancey, Sr. and Sara Ruth Hill Yancey. As a young boy, he developed a love for baseball, where he became a catcher for the Auburn Little League team. In 1956, those young boys and their coaches boarded a train in Auburn on their way to Williamsport, PA to play in the Little League World Series.
In October of 1965 Raymond entered the United States Marine Corp, where he became a proud Marine. He learned values that he carried with him for the rest of his life. When he returned home from his service, he enrolled at Auburn University.
On August 2, 1980, he married Laura Ann Downing and instantly became the proud father of Chris and Brandon. In November the following year, a daughter, Sara Katherine, was born to them.
Raymond had so many wonderful memories of growing up in Camp Hill. Whenever he and his old friends would gather around telling stories, everyone would listen intently.
Faith was a cornerstone for Raymond. He was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Dadeville.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Ann Yancey of Dadeville; daughter, Sara Katherine Yancey (Earl) Sellers of Auburn; bonus sons, Chris (Stephanie) Huff of Auburn and Brandon Huff of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Savannah Huff (Jacob) Green of Lincoln, London (Zac) Huff of St. Augustine, FL, Jackson Sellers, Yancey Sellers, Matthew Sellers, Robert Sellers all of Auburn, Amelia Huff of Columbus, GA, and River Anderson of Coronado, CA; great-grandchild, Beau Green of Lincoln; sister, Nancy McClendon of Opelika; and brother-in-law, Perry Golden of Opelika.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice Golden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vision 2026 Fund or the Food Pantry Fund both at the First Baptist Church of Dadeville, 178 S. Tallassee St. Dadeville, AL 36853.
