Rosemerry Pope
Rosemerry Pope, 93, of Opelika, AL formerly of Camp Hill, AL passed away August 15, 2013. She was the wife of the late Grady E. Pope to whom she was married for 40 years before his death in 1979.
Born December 11, 1919 she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Drake Burttram of Springville, AL. Rosemerry worked for many years at Adcap Manufacturing Company and was a very active member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church.
In addition to devoting herself to her family, Mrs. Pope was known to be an excellent quilter and held many quilting sessions with her best friends. She will also be lovingly remembered for her cooking, especially her homemade biscuits, and her love for her favorite flower, the iris. She was a loving, kind, and giving wife and mother.
She is survived by her children: Sandra (Delon) Freeman of Opelika, AL, Eddie (Carol) Pope of Greenville, AL, Becky Payne of Opelika, AL, Pat (Kevin) Carey of South Dennis, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amy Freeman of Phenix City, AL, Scott Freeman of Daphne, AL, Kelly Payne of Auburn AL, Michael (Ashley) Payne of Auburn, AL, and Matt Carey of Manchester, NH and one brother, Bill (Velcie) Burttram of Springville, AL.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2013 from 10 am until 12 noon followed by her celebration of life at 12 noon at Langley Funeral Home Chapel, Camp Hill, AL. Reverend Mac Buttram and Chaplain Paul Greger are officiating. Interment will follow at Tallapoosa Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank her extended family and caregivers at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab and Dr. Hiren Patel for their care provided during the past two years. They would also like to thank SouthernCare Hospice for their care provided the past few months.
